One Year of Millie! Plus a Funny School Visit Story

Dear Friend,

Wow, what a month it’s been already!

School Visit Fun

I wanted to share a funny story from a school visit I had this past week. First of all—I had a blast presenting my books to these amazing PK-4th graders. The teachers and PTA leaders were so kind and welcoming, and it was such an honor to stand in front of over 500 little ones to help spark their creativity and love for stories.

The kids had so many great questions about the writing process and how I came up with my book ideas. But one moment really stuck with me, and made me laugh later. A student raised his hand and asked how old my boys were. I said, “They’re six and seven.”

The entire room erupted. I stood there completely puzzled, wondering what I had just said! The kids were laughing, gasping, cheering, I thought I had accidentally hit some secret switch I didn’t know existed. After things calmed down, the teacher explained it was a “social media thing.” I had no idea! Now I’ll always remember that my boys’ ages are apparently viral material.

Market Adventures

I’ve also had such a blast at all the recent markets, meeting so many wonderful people and hearing your stories. One person told me he’s keeping his signed copy of Millie Lost Her Nose safe for when it’s worth millions. I laughed, and he said, “No, really, it could be! I’ve got a signed first edition of a Stephen King book, and my wife even met him once.”
I told him that’s incredible, and maybe one day, I’ll get to meet some of my own heroes too.

Emma Lee’s Coming!

Big news: I’m currently in talks with my printing company to start production on Emma Lee Spots Her Spot! This part always makes me feel like a kid on Christmas morning. It still takes a little time to get everything printed, but it’s so exciting to see the process moving forward. I can’t wait for you all to meet her.

Happy Anniversary to Millie!

November marks one year since we published Millie Lost Her Nose! 🎉

This has been one of the wildest, most fulfilling rides of my life, and I couldn’t have done it without my amazing wife. She’s been my biggest cheerleader, my push when I start to doubt myself, and that gentle kick when I get too comfortable.

I also want to thank my two boys for inspiring me with their imaginations and for believing that we can bring a little more good into this world.

And of course, a huge thank-you to you. None of this would be possible without your support from the very beginning. Believe me when I say—we’re still just getting started.

I’m so proud of what we’ve built together in just one year, and I can’t wait to see what the next fifty bring. We’re flooding the world with good, one smile at a time.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

With gratitude,
A.B. Wade
